Our Quality Management System has been certified to ISO9001:1994 since 1996. It is applicable for Ship Repair, Conversion and Ship Modification, encompassing engineering design, procurement, project management, construction, installation, testing and commissioning. We were successfully re-certified to ISO9001:2008 by Det Norske Veritas (DNV) Certification B.V. since March 2009.
We embarked on the International Quality Rating System (IQRS), an internationally recognised quality system assessment protocol by Det Norske Veritas in 2000. IQRS protocol incorporates linkages to ISO9001, the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) Excellence Model and the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award (MBNQA). Through this comprehensive framework benchmarked against international best practices, continuous improvements are made to our Management system. We have achieved a Level 9 rating for overall business excellence since March 2004.
Sembawang Shipyard was awarded the Singapore Quality Class (SQC) status by SPRING Singapore in 1997. The SQC recognises organisations that have achieved a commendable level of performance, based on the SQC Business Excellence Framework. The SQC Business Excellence Framework has seven dimensions - Leadership, Planning, Information, People, Processes, Customers and Results. This framework provides organisations with a total approach in managing people, processes and customers to achieve better business results. Our admission into the SQC was a major step forward in our business excellence journey.
