Sembawang Shipyard has always been a strong supporter of the under-privileged in Singapore. We have adopted Student Care Services (SCS), Yishun Branch, and participated in some of the programmes organised by them. Founded in 1976, SCS provides direct social work services to students and their families by serving the needs of students who come from low income families and / or have some behavioral and attitude and / or are facing some learning difficulties.

Besides voluntary participation and service in various programmes conducted by SCC by our employees, Sembawang Shipyard contributed $50,000 to SCC in 2003 as part of our 35th Anniversary Celebration. The funds were raised through various celebrative events such as sale of greeting cards and charity bowling competition etc. Special Christmas party for the children of the centre as well as children of the yard employee, ages between 7 to 15 yrs old. The objective of the project is to provide a platform for the children to share their talents and celebrate Christmas in a fun-filled way, and to promote the spirit of volunteerism in employees.
